'hewing stroke' sounds very off-color

Reported by: anonymous Owned by: brazen
Priority: 0-trivial Milestone:
Severity: non-applicable Keywords: code hew

Description

XXXX's *** BRUTAL *** hewing stroke tears into YYYY!

'hewing stroke' sounds like a particularly painful masturbation reference. I realize the 'mighty mighty hew' is what prompted this, but simply reducing it to 'hew' would sound less naughty.

Don't see a compelling case to change this. Better suggestions?

'hewing stroke' is not only a bad descriptor of the motion (stroke has a connotation of fluidity while hew has a sense of being a very rough motion) but is also written out-of-style with other damage phrasing-- a verb is required by convention of damage messages. Phrasing sounds very awkward because of this. Propose it be replaced simply with 'hew', as still addresses the original issue (***MIGHT*** mighty hew) while restoring a uniform writing style.
