The Opportunity

We are looking for an Account Executive who can help build and execute our commercial strategy across the Netherlands and, over time, across Europe.

The GovTech market is one of the largest opportunities for startups today. Governments are the world’s biggest spenders, but breaking into government markets means navigating long buying cycles, tenders, complex decision-making units, slow technology adoption, and agencies still relying on 1990s software.

We’re here to provide government agencies tackling the largest societal problems with the best possible software, leading to a stronger, sovereign and more competitive Europe. As an Account Executive, you will play a pivotal role in Europe’s push for sovereignty by identifying opportunities, building relationships with key government officials and closing deals with leading government agencies

About Avendar

At Avendar, we are building Europe’s system for critical investigations, helping governments fight crime and fraud. Our mission is to make Europe safer. We are building a platform that increases the efficiency and quality of investigations conducted by detectives, criminal investigators, financial crime specialists and researchers working within government agencies.

Avendar was founded in early 2025 by three experienced serial founders with over 20 years of experience in fintech, legal, and construction. We have hands-on experience deploying high-risk AI systems in highly regulated environments. Our customers include the Dutch National Police, the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security, and the Municipality of Amsterdam.

The Role

  • Building and growing pipeline. You proactively reach out to government agencies, identify relevant stakeholders, and open conversations that can develop into long-term partnerships. You take ownership of generating qualified leads and building a strong pipeline through targeted outreach, research, and networking.
  • Opening strategic accounts. Government organizations have complex structures and multiple stakeholders. You map decision-making units, identify the right entry points, and position Avendar with the teams that can benefit most from our platform.
  • Working closely with the founders. You collaborate directly with the founding team to refine our go-to-market strategy. Insights from your conversations with the market feed directly into how we position the product and approach new opportunities.
  • Building the foundation for long-term relationships. The first interaction matters. You represent Avendar in early conversations with government stakeholders, establishing trust and credibility from the very first contact.

Requirements

  • You have a bachelor’s degree.
  • You have 1- 4 years of relevant commercial experience, for example as an Account Executive, Business Development Representative, or in a similar B2B/B2G sales role.
  • You are a strong communicator, both written and verbal. You can articulate complex value propositions simply and effectively.
  • You work in a structured way. Managing government sales cycles requires patience, organization, and a tight grip on your pipeline.
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English; German is a plus.

Nice to have

  • Experience selling to the public sector, navigating tender processes, or working with complex software products.
  • We’re looking for someone who enjoys the hunt but understands the consultative nature of government sales.

Practicalities

  • Compensation based on experience (€3.5k to €6k gross monthly salary) + bonus, full-time position.
  • 25 vacation days.

  • Hybrid-remote working environment; our office is at JADS on the Mariënburg in 's-Hertogenbosch, overlooking the Dommel.
  • The hiring process consists of an introductory call, followed by an on-site team session. After that, we move to an offer.
